Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding an instrument in her attic and becoming enthralled by the sounds it would create. The parents of her May-Britt family and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as a career or hobby but rather to gain experience. To achieve this she wrote her first music that was her own. She points to renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as inspirations, and also an affinity for Bjork's style. Her mother urged her to play her songs in public, not so that she could achieve fame, but rather to help others realize how important the music they compose and what they could do to improve the world. She began playing the piano at the age of six, and began making music at the age of nine. The family members didn't know about it until the age of fourteen. There was no way she could have imagined to become Aurora. She claims that she loves writing music. According to her, music is the best way for expressing anything.
